What a great Art weekend!!

Well what a great weekend! “Sublim(e)inal Abstraction” opened to a nice crowd that was very enthusiastic! Featured work is by artists Kya Espenscheid (new to WFA, from Milwaukee, and who just had a baby!), John D Greene, Satish Joshi, Michael Kessler and Deirdre Leber. Click on the artist names to see their work (remember - always better in person). Glossy, textured, acrylic, oil, wax, panel, canvas, paper - no matter the medium or ground, all of these works are abstractions that revel in the process of creating art. Some reference nature, the psyche, emotionality, transcendence, or a personal experience or vision of the artist. Please come in and spend a moment (or three) with the work and see what you see and feel!

I also had the pleasure of attending the unveiling ceremony of the sculpture “Rip Van Winkle” on the top of Hunter mountain on Columbus Day! If you haven’t been to the top of Hunter, and you love art and you love nature, you have got to get up there - hike it, take the lift (or call me and I’ll put in a call for a ride). The sculpture (visible in the foreground of the near photo, and the background of the far photo) is a marvel of craft, material, dedication - it took fourteen years to complete, carved during festivals. In the far photo I’m the lucky girl sitting between the two carvers - Kevin Van Hentenryck on the left and David Slutzky on the right! Congratulations to both! ~MCC
