What a great weekend to head up to Windham! After last weekend’s exciting Tour of the Catskills bike races, we are lucky enough to have a wonderful assortment of fun things to do in town!

First on the docket for this weekend is the 4th Annual Bataviakill Stream Celebration, featuring exhibitions, lectures, booths, lectures and guided stream walks all around the streams and creeks of Windham! These exciting events will take place at the Country Suites Bed and Breakfast in Ashland from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, August 7th and the best thing is that they are free to the public!

After a lovely afternoon in the wilds of Windham, head back into town for a bit to take part in the 14th Annual Civil War Music Gathering and Encampment taking place until Sunday. Costumed individuals and authentic Civil War era campsites decorate the grounds of the historical Windham Center Church Civic and Performing Arts Center as the sounds of fiddle, accordion, drum and flute fill the air with traditional period music and song. And if you are free the evening of Saturday, stick around for an ice cream social as the performers gather in the Center Church for “Far from the Shamrock Shore”, a concert to honor the memory of thousands of young Irishmen who fought alongside the many soldiers on the battlefields during the Civil War. If you can’t make it on Saturday night, be sure to tune your radios to WRIP 97.9 at 7:30pm; they will be broadcasting the concert event live on the airwaves for all to enjoy!

And last but far from least is the 8th Annual Windham Arts Alliance Art Fest! Visit the private studios, galleries and exhibition sites of locally renowned artists. Be sure to attend the raffle drawing and party on Sunday evening at 5pm at the Country Suite Bed and Breakfast, there are thousands of dollars in raffle items available so be sure to buy tickets and try your luck, all while helping the arts in our community!
