Landscape painting is a mood as well as evocation of place. It describes weather and time of day and brings the seasons of the year to life. Whenever possible I paint or sketch outdoors and through perception strive to give my art work mood and vitality. I aim for breadth, that is to describe in paint the large areas of the scene - mountians, lake, sky - in order to achieve a bold composition. I feel that vibrant color gives my work immediacy and works with a palette of bright greens and blues and sunny ochres and reds.
